That last gif *let me tell you about racist ass Sandra* I died!!!!!!!!!!!!

cisnowflake

An uneducated store clerk make a comment out of ignorance and you go off like this? Fuck right off dude. No one was trying to be a racist. They probably didn’t know any better. For fucks sake.

desperatelyseekingdennis

They are almost certainly African American, and have been for generations. Which means the boy is literally wearing a costume. That cultural garb isn’t his culture, he’s borrowing it from elsewhere. That’s fine, nothing wrong with that, but let’s be honest about what’s going on here.

I’m ancestrally German,  but if I put on lederhosen people are going to assume I’m playing dress up.  Because that’s exactly what I’d be doing.

cisnowflake

I couldn’t agree more. I highly doubt these people have spent any significant amount of time in Africa.

makehomeworld-greatagain

The sad part is they probably give very little shits about actual african culture, or know very little about it.
The outfit isn’t something you see every day, and it’s not the end of the world if someone doesn’t recognize it.
Plus people “dress up” in costumes from their culture all the time for halloween so idk man

tuhmblr-logic

Okay but I have a lot of questions;

Why isn’t she wearing an outfit like theirs?

I’m from an African family and the only time I see them wearing those outfits are during their parties, funerals, etc. Maybe they were picking something up at the store? Was that the case here?

Or do they not have a bit of (recent) African ancestry in them and they were just doing this to make a political statement?

In all seriousness the clerk made a dumb comment, but she overreacted. It’s times like this where I wish I could see the whole video lol

dear-tumb1r

“cultural wear” from what culture? what african culture are you using? do you even know?

thisislibertyprime

if you’re describing cultural attire and the most specific you can get is “African” then you’re probably just an attention whore

aubscares

I feel so bad for this clerk. She probably went home and cried.

kalelarga

If you watch the video, she speaks in a perfect American accent, so she was most likely born in America and hasn’t spent a significant amount of time being part of actual African culture. The fact that she does not specify which African culture is telling imo. If I were to see someone wearing a Slavic folk dress and asked them about it, I’d expect to actually be told which Slavic country/region it is from otherwise I wouldn’t be convinced that person knows what they’re talking about.

I bet she made the video for attention because I imagine if there were some cultural event on, she would also be wearing traditional garb. I’ve seen numerous recent African migrants in my town, wearing traditional garb (or a mixture) and they do not act anything like this. Attention whores will be attention whores and they won’t think anything of using their children to attention and validation. What a mentally unstable cow.

The clerk made a stupid comment, but if this lady had common sense, she could’ve used the opportunity to actually teach something a little something about African culture…but then again, she had to have known a thing or two about African culture herself so there goes that.

jazz-e-clectic

👆👆👆👆👆👆reblogging for THOSE comments because traditionally people don’t wear garb outside of special occasions and frankly, their garb looks like fabric just randomly wrapped around their body sooo…yeah the clerk was out of line but ..I can’t get behind this mama either.

starlight-son

^^^ thank you. I’m 1st gen Nigerian American so I’ve been hesitant to say anything against this because I felt like it was gonna stir up the whole “AA v. Africans v. Other ppl of the diaspora” debate again but honestly this really did seem like they were trying to start shit. Ornate traditional garb is usually worn during special occasions and the times that you see people walking about in traditional garb it’s not gonna be super elaborate stuff, it’ll just be casual clothing/fatigues. Ex: a trad Nigerian party outfit looks hella different than a wrapper, which is casual wear. You can tell the difference

As someone who has the POV of both an African and an African American cuz, this incident annoys me so much lol. I’m all for defending your kids but like…they literally do look like they’re wearing costumes. They literally look like their mom forced them to wear them to make a statement cuz they look so awk/uncomfortable in that random fabric lol

Ah, SJWs wrong again. Gotta love folks with common sense who see through bullshit like this.

PETA is now officially the animal rights equivalent of the feminist movement.

Who cares about the millions of animals PETA kills in their shelters for no reason? This guy swore while shearing his sheep!

An example of what oppression is:

- Being beaten up for going outside without a man.

- Being killed because you are trans.

- Getting kicked out of your work because you are lesbian, gay, etc.

- Government denying you basic rights because of your sexual orientation.

- Being killed because you are black.

- People ignoring the massive rape german girls are suffering right now because they are white girls being raped by POC.

An example of what oppression is not:

- Paying the double for your clothes when you are fat, even though the reason they cost more is because they need more material and work (basic math).

- Not being able to find cute animal sweaters -that you see you see on tumblr- in your size.

- Not getting candygrams in valentine’s day.

- A guy not finding you attractive.

- Having to pay extra for bath tubs, when logically they will cost more because they need more material and work. (again, basic math).

- “Thin Privilege”.

- Teens prefering to date healthy and normal girls instead of a 16 years old girl with 400lb.

- Your friend asking you why you eat too much when you are having a McDonalds for breakfast.

- This post.

Every fat activist says that ‘not everyone can lose weight’.

Amber Rachdi was 600 lbs. 600 freaking lbs. See those legs; yea that’s lymphedema that was caused by her morbid obesity.

And now look at her. Imagine her life if fat acceptance found her before the health intervention did.

Love ya, Babe! You accomplish miracles by force of will, which is very difficult for many brought up on the I-want-it-now philosophy. Bravo!

I watched her episode of My 600lb Life and she’s the only one I’ve seen that actually wanted to change her life and understood how important it was.

I feel like I need to add this because she went so much farther in her journey than the last photo shows. This is from her public Facebook profile.
